Of all the shows on that fall tour, this is the one that stands out in my memory. A rare "My mind`s...". Probably the meatiest first set I`ve ever seen in 150 shows (I stopped going around `98). Timber Ho is one of my favorite set-openers. The jam between Wolfman`s and Boogie On is very cool. Most people that I asked who saw them all that tour, agree. This was the one not to miss.

this is one of my favorite shows... so glad it was released through livephish. you definitely need to pick it up... the theme, tube, tube jam reprise>slave is probably my favorite 30 minutes of phish. the theme is just so tight.. they are so in tune with eachother that there is a point where it just melds into one sound. without a doubt the best tube i have come across... page just tears it up. then as they close tube, they pause and bust right back into the grove of the tube jam... trey sets in some loops.. page throws in some effects and it slowly morphs into slave. the psycho killer is solid as well... goes into some nice type II jamming. the second set contains some nice work.. spacey timber... and if i remember correctly the wolfman>boogie jam is pretty interesting as well. i feel like the boogie jam has a similar feel as the pyscho killer... i have an old copy on tape that i basically wore out so i`m going from memory. my only comment would be that the sets should be flipped... the first set is definitely more emotional/climatic... stop reading through the reviews and get this show.

Ahhh, my hometown......and what a memorable show!!!! My first ever Phish show was 95 Nutter Center, with one of the best Tweezers......EVER!!!
For this show, I had an extra ticket and decided to take my dad. Yes, that`s right, I said my dad. He was curious about this band that I would drive states to see. After seeing them play a spectacular show the night before in Auburn Hills (and seeing a SICK Tweezer > Isabella), I thought that the Nutter show was going to be subpar. I mean, how could it be better than the show I just saw?
And it`s because of this show why I truly love this band. They don`t "call it in". How easy it could be for them to just get up there, play some songs that they`ve played for their entire adult lives, and not put any passion into them. Hey, I wouldn`t blame them. I`ve been in a band before, and I would get bored with playing some songs after 6 months, let alone 10+ years.
Anyways, the show was FABULOUS! This show is practically perfect. I don`t even think there`s a flub to be found. That doesn`t mean that they don`t jam. They jam and jam and jam. The Psycho and Jesus were excellent, and the Theme was probably the best I have ever heard. And then breaking out Boogie in the second set and playing a Guyute that put the crowd into, literally, hysteria, was amazing. My dad never questioned me again on why I see this band.

my first show and still is #2 best show that i had ever been to (big cyprus - #1) the bag to open the show into psycho killer is obviously amazing and to encore with a day in the life - to me was insane as the beatles were my band until the conclusion of this show!! The best part of the show in my opinion would have to be steep > swept away in the middle of a phat ice. I still think of this show at least once a week - it is quite amazing!! Get this show if you don`t have it already

I`ve never posted a review before, and I don`t know why I feel a need to now...it`s probably a bit of nostalgia kicking in. I somehow ended up in the front row at this show, and the whole experience of this show (not to mention this whole tour) left me smiling with my mind blown for at least several weeks. Wow! Fall 97 was a goooood time. The AC/Dc-->Psycho Killer changed the way I thought about music, I tell you.

The first set of this show is one of my all-time favorites. The AC/DC>Psycho and Tube>Slave segues will leave you smiling. The second set definitely holds its own as well. I know everyone has said it many times, but fall tour `97 was a special time, and I`m thankful I was able to attend some of those magical shows. It was something else. What a band.

Definitly the best vocal and musical performance I have heard out of Phish in my 20 shows. Dayton 97 was enough to blow even the most seasoned phans mind, Even if you don`t like the set list!!!! The Bag into Psycho Killer into a quickened tempo Jesus left Chicago will get you there. Check out the Timber on set 2 as well. I would put this Dayton Show`s and crowd`s energy against any in history. The CD sound quality "Does" do this show justice. It`s a must have!
