Of all the Phish shows that I have had the pleasure of attending this is the greatest. From beginning to end we were movin a groovin to the phunkiness. It`s a small personal venue and you could just see that that the band was pheelin` it that night. If you love live Phish this show is a must for your collection. I have been looking for it for years. This one will always be in their greatest in my mind.

Just a couple quick points about the Dayton show. As I listened to it all the way through start to finish, I kept asking myself: 1. Why Dayton, OH and 2. Why Dec 7? Honestly, this show is absolutely incredible. Did all the stars just happen to line up in the midwest that night? Seriously fans, I`ve probably listened to over 150 Phish concerts in my life and this performance is astounding. The flow is perfect and the TUBE is hands down the best you`ll ever hear up to and including the date of this review. I threw it on as background music with a friend the other night (NOT a Phish fan I will add) and caught them totally grooving to it. He laughed out loud when I told him who it was. Enough said...I`m rambling...get the show!

When my friend and I walked down the aisle of the Ervin J Nutter Center to the floor where our seats were, you can imagine our consternation when our seats were not there. Instead, the taper`s section was there and filling up rapidly. The usher looked nervous and told us to wait in the back and disappeared. Our group began to grow. We all exchanged confused looks and shrugged our shoulders. Finally, as the beginning of the show approached, an usher told our group to follow them. We started walking back up towards the top section. Oh man, we were thinking, we were supposed to be on the floor! Our line filed around a side section and back down to the floor. There were 2 rows of folding chairs right in front of the sound board just for our group! And then the show started. Holy flurking schnit! I can`t imagine a better show for that to happen! We were at the Palace the night before and this blew it away! From the beginning to the end my friend and I rocked out. So did everyone else around us. The vibe was amazing - both the band and the crowd. Shows like this are the reason I have seen this band over 40 times. My friends that didn`t make it to the show got real sick of hearing about how awesome it was! Take a listen.

This is a classic example of a funky 97 show. I could sit around and dream of a perfect setlist, or I could just listen to these. Jesus Left Chicago is mesmerizing, Page is ON. This show glorifies every band member exacly how all adoring PHiSH fans see them, "as if their heros can do no wrong".
