This stands as one of the best showes of probubly one of the best tours Phish ever did FALL `97. Anyone with any inclination to check Phish out whatsoever should head streight for this show.

I have been to over 50 shows and this one clearly stands out in the top 5 for me. The eneregy in 97 was incredible and this was likely the best show of the fall tour. ACDC-Phsycho Killer(last played in 88)-Jesus Left Chicago was an incredible way to lift Dayton to that next level, where you knew you were in for a special show. Page really does some wonderful playing on Jesus Left Chicago. Im also a huge Its Ice fan, so with a Swept Away-Steep thrown in the middle I was more than happy. The second set featured Timber Ho, at the time a rare Boogie on Reggae(hadnt been played in over 800 shows), and a well need Reba. I remember the back drop for the satge, there were no seats behind Phish, they were literally playing from inside a wall, I still have not been to a venue like this to date. I could through every song for this show but you just have to give it a listen for yourself. Other than that, the encore was very appropriate due to the fact it was a Lennon tibute( A day in the LIfe) Lennon passed away on Dec 8, 1980, and since Phish had the next nite off, they played it on the 7th. My friends who skipped the Ohio shows that fall called me for the set list the next morning and couldnt believe they played Its ice, BORW, Psycho Killer, and Reba. "WHo plays Its Ice and Psycho Killer in Ohio?" WHo else? PHISH

One word... FUNK! This was my first show. I had collected a bunch of live stuff as well as all of the studio stuff to-date. I was telling my buds how I thought that Mike was one of the most under-rated bassists out there. Needless to say, this show didn`t disappoint! Tube was incredible, The segue between Wolfman`s and Boogie on has a Victor Wooten-esqe riff that still gives me chills when I hear it. Of course, since the group I went with are all immense Beatles fans, A Day In The Life was the shiznit. Treys solos are particularly beautiful on this night. Theme, Slave and Reba come to mind. It just seemed like they were all on. (Sorry that I didn`t single you out Page and Jon). Now if LivePhish would get the tapes of 11.14.98 together, `cause this one is "So Lonely" without Sammy Hagar the Horrible :P

One of the best shows I have ever heard. I always wondered why the band didn`t release this one on the Live series. Tube is almost as funky as James Brown on his worst night.

Incredible show! Took my dad to his first show ever, on the floor, 14th row. AC/DC Bag got my dad moving and then Psycho Killer, with Jesus Left Chicago to follow.....very appetizing. Slave was also very satisfying to close the first set. 2nd set highlights include Wolfman`s and a Boogie On which was very unexpected, but very appreciated. Reba, Guyute, Possum (My dad says to this day that Possum is his favorite Phish song) to close the 2nd set? And a Day in the Life to send us off, was the topper to a great night! One of my very favorite shows.

great pick. definitely one of the best shows of fall `97, up there with 11-17 in denver. the dayton jam was actually common throughout the tour, even the night before in detroit. this whole show is a highlight.

From about 20 rows back, slighty right of center, this show was overpowering. We were right in front of the elevated sound board, and on the leading edge of the platform were two folding chairs. Just before the mayhem began, what looked to be a student and a professor-type (beard, dark turtle neck, earth tone tweed jacket with the ever-predictable patches on the elbows), sat down in those chairs. The lights kicked off, the crowd roared, and the show began. As Jesus was finishing his departure from Chi-town, I looked back at this professor-type to see how he was faring, all exposed, as he was, sitting at our shoulder level, absorbing the full power of the band. He was gritting his teeth like a kamikazi pilot powering his plane into pearl harbor. Or, perhaps, as one might on an underestimated hit of windowpain. I can only imagine what the next onslaught of tunes did to him. Tube must of been quite confusing. He did not return for the second set. Too bad, the possum, as always, rocked.
