"I was fortunate enough that was this was my first show and I fell in love."

"Probably the greatest single set of 3.0. There isn’t a dull moment. Everyone’s playing is absolutely ferocious. No Quarter call saved what could have been a momentum-killing ballad. 2001 and first tube put this set into all-timer status. "

"Absolutely love this show. I can’t stop going back to it and enjoy it every time. I struggle to find the weaknesses in this show. Just awesome. "

"As of now, this is one of my top 5 favorite shows I've ever seen. The energy walking into MSG was different. It didnt feel like we were walking into a scorcher, I specifically remember my buddy commenting as we walked through the concourse that things seemed more quiet and tamed than usual. I said maybe it was because everyone was still shifting back from rest mode into show mode from the night before. There was a small part of me that was concerned the crowds energy might not be where it needed to be at the start of the show. Man was I wrong. When we got to our seats, our neighbors told us how security shook them down on the way in and confiscated all of their party favors. Myself and a couple others were able to hook them up and they were very grateful. Behind us a guy was telling his friend who was at his first show that he was in for a ride, man was he right. I welcomed our new pham to the party and got myself into dancing position. Buried Alive started things off, sparking the energy that I felt the crowd had been missing. I quickly noted in my head that shows which open with Buried usually end up scorchers. Blaze On came next, an always welcomed song in my book especially when placed early in the first set. Trey was in fine form as the energy began to grow in the garden. I was ecstatic to hear the band move into the second ever (and more polished at least in my opinion) performance of the Kasvot Vaxt classic Turtle in the Clouds. Trey and Mike showed off some of their finest dance moves as i started to realize we were in for a treat. A quick trip to Gamehendge was next on the itinerary as the smell of italian spaghetti filled the garden with an appearance of The Sloth. An excellent 46 Days was next and allowed for some of the first deep explorations of the evening, the band was firing on all cylinders as Trey moved into Cities to the delight of everyone in the building. Cities is one of my favorite covers, and I couldnt help but laugh as Trey flubbed the lyrics to the start of the second verse...the same lyrics he flubbed when I was is Albany back in October. Smiles and encouraging yells showcased our fanbases ability to love even during the mistakes. Corrina was a nice little breather to add into the set with it's first performance in exactly 2 years and 1 day. One of my Mike favorites was next as the tropical chords of Ya Mar played through the air giving Leo an opportunity to take us to church on the piano. Wolfmans Brother is a good first set ender in my opinion, and this version was anything but standard. This Wolfmans became a serious contender for the best jam of the night. After an extended scat, the Wolfmans jam was in full motion with Page ripping on the clavinet and Trey moving the jam forward. The jam was reaching a very interesting point whem Trey belted out "Party Time" over the jam. I dont care what this setlist says, Party Time was there. An atypical version but Party Time nonetheless. The crowd was going insane as the Phish from Vermont kicked things into high gear and ended the first set with an enormous peak. First set over, and giant smiles on the faces of everyone around me. I used setbreak to run over to a friend of mines section who i had met in the walmart parking lot in watkins glen this past august as we were buying last minute supplies for Curveball. My crew and hers got along well and we decided we'd drive into the fest together and camp together. You all know what happened next. We decided to find a different place to go camping and ended up having an incredible weekend together where all of her friends and mine became friends for life. It was great to see all of them again as we reminisced about the good times we had together, and we made plans to meet up in the city after the show. I went back to my seat with high expectations for the second set. When i returned, my neighbors who i had helped out at the beginning of the show had 2 cold beers waiting for me to say thanks. Things couldnt have been going better, and then they did. One of my favorites, (as a lover of dirty, evil, gritty phish) Carini started the second set off. The energy in the building was bonkers as Fish screamed along with the music. A nice jam started to come out of it before Trey ripcorded the jam in favor of Tweezer. High fives all around as Tweezer got underway reminding everyone to hold for their lives. The guy at his first show behind me was being told by everyone around him that shit was about to go down. Tweezer got down and dirty. The jam progressed forward and a familiar melody was slowly bubbling to the surface. "no way" i thought to myself as i heard the unmistakable melody of I Know You Rider before moving into more funky territory. I was trying to figure out if i had actually heard what i thought i heard when the funk took over and we faceplanted into rock with Death Dont Hurt Very Long. This awesome version saw the band having so much fun, with Trey encouraging Bob Weaver to funk for the people who happily obliged before Trey called out for Cactus to show us his stuff. A dope funk battle between Big Red and Cactus ensued before bringing the jam to a head then moving back into Tweezer with the crowd in absolute delerious ecstasy. The obvious jam of the night and potentially all of 2018, this "Death Tweezer" was everything i love about Phish. A version you need to listen to at all costs. Phish at their best. After the craziness i expected a breather or slow down. Maybe a numberline or velvet sea. But nope. The familiar keys of No Quarter slowly came forth, with the crowd going crazy. Trey went full badass ripping No Quarter to shreds before the lights went down and Page shifted the keys into 2001. A full on dance party ensued, with everyone around me making up moves we never knew we could do. I kept thinking i hope this never ends, and theres no way this can get better...and then it did. First Tube. Trey was the motherfucking bad lieutenant during this version, running from side to side on the stage and bringing down the house. If you've never been to MSG for Phish then you wouldnt know that when things are going down and the band and crowd are one, the bulding moves. The building moved up and down with the crowd jumping up and down with Big Red bringing the building to one more massive peak before showcasing his jedi skills and holding his guitar to the sky for all to see. Second set over. Im not sure people even knew what to do at this point. The band came out and started up the encore with Shine A Light, a fitting choice in my opinion considering the love and joy that was just shown all across the worlds most famous arena. Trey then started the Tweezer riff again bringing things to a close with the always rowdy Tweeprise. A fitting end. As the band waved goodbye the crowd was going insane. I (along with many others around me) couldnt move, awestruck by what had just happened. hugs and high fives all around as everyone tried to pick up their melted faces from the floor. All in all it was an incredible performance worthy of being seriously looked at as a top show of 3.0 and one that I personally feel with have a place in phishtory. Thank you Phish and all my beautiful Phamily for making this feeling possible. See yall this summer."
