"Trey invites Santana on stage. Instantly regrets it, lol. Never invite Santana on stage unless your willing to play #2 in your own band. Dude was a monster. "

"I laugh so hard when read that someone thinks santana better guitarist than trey. First off trey got soooo much influence from Santana and sounds like him tone wise with that compressor sustain and clean tone but more importantly you got to realize trey idolized santana and when they play together I've notice he is hesitant to overshadow santana at all and tries to make it about santana more than himself which he successfully does here even allowing Carlos to essentially lead the direction of the jams at times. That's why this collaboration is so good. Most guest appearances like this one end not living up to the hype but trey really gives the stage to the elder statesman and allows him to shine in a meaningful way and it's what makes it such a great collaboration. But when it comes to actual technical chops I'm sorry but Carlos has nothing on mr. Anastasio . Trey is more knowledgable of music theory, trained in both classical and jazz and can play so many styles and sound like so many diff people all at once or over the course of a show or even just in a single solo. Carlos basically never doesn't sound like that signature santana sound. Now don't get me wrong, trey has a truly signature sound amongst rock guitar gods also, but I'm just saying he goes beyond his signature sound way more than santana does. It's really not even a debate - if you really do your due diligence and research the two men. Btw I should say I'm a gigantic santana fan and he's prob the single biggest influence in my own guitar playing because he plays a style that more suites my abilities that say treys. As much as I would like to sound like trey that's just not me. I can do more of the stuff santana does cuz it just jives with my fingers and hand and head in a way that works well. "

"TreyLos SantanAstasio played that one guitar beautifully ...... Oh it was two people with two guitars? Geez how'd they finish each other's musical thoughts like 30 year band mates? It's called black magic. Oye como va folks. And oh kee pa to you all! Peace! "
