Show Notes

- On December 16, 1999, near the end of the road to Big Cypress, Phish played their only show at Reynolds Coliseum - a World War II era basketball arena on the NCSU campus with a concert capacity of about 14,000.  Highlights from set I included Chalk Dust Torture, Limb By Limb, Roggae and Possum.  Set II featured some deep-space millennial exploration during Sand and Wading In The Velvet Sea > Tweezer > Runaway Jim.  This show showcased the subtlety of communication and breadth of improvisation for which Phish was, by this time, world-renowned.  12/16/99 was recorded by Paul Languedoc to digital multitrack, mixed/mastered by Jon Altschiller, and represents the first fall 1999 show released by JEMP and LivePhish.    - HD files are 24 bit / 48 kHz - Recorded by Paul Languedoc      - Mixed and Mastered by Jon Altschiller assisted by Danielle Warman      - Post-Production by Kevin Shapiro      - Technical Assistance by Ben Collette      Wilson (Anastasio/Marshall/Woolf) Chalk Dust Torture  (Anastasio/Marshall) Lawn Boy (Anastasio/Marshall) Limb By Limb (Anastasio/Herman/Marshall) Horn (Anastasio/Marshall) Back on the Train (Anastasio/Marshall) Roggae (Anastasio/Fishman/Gordon/Marshall/McConnell) Heavy Things (Anastasio/Herman/Marshall) Camel Walk (Holdsworth) Possum (Holdsworth) Sand (Anastasio/Lawton/Markellis/Marshall) The Mango Song (Anastasio) Wading in the Velvet Sea (Anastasio/Marshall) Tweezer (Anastasio/Fishman/Gordon/McConnell) Runaway Jim (Abrahams/Anastasio) Bittersweet Motel (Anastasio/Fishman/Gordon/McConnell) Tweezer Reprise (Anastasio/Fishman/Gordon/McConnell)      All songs copyright Who Is She? "Mount Rushmore version of Sand right here. 2nd best all-time after Big Cypress. This whole show is perfection."

"such a memorable show the mike doll on his bass amp stellar sand and the casio keys from Trey making the sounds simulating shoes on the basketball court and also the last show at Reynolds before it was tore down so glad I was able to witness this fabulous show"

"For me, This was like having Phish come play at your house. I grew up practically living in Reynolds Coliseum. We had season tix to State games for many years. Spent countless summers at Basketball camp, Watched Jimmy V coach, give speeches and get my pic taken w him all there. It was the show that I took my non-phish brother and friend to see, to which I don't think they really got it but they got to see a real good one. As others have stated, it was cold outside and when you walked in there it was hot as s&$%. I knew how it would feel, being at so many games in there. Yes I sweat my butt off but well worth it. The place was completely slammed, to the likes of a UNC or Duke game there. As for the boys they didn't disappoint. Opening with a Wilson Chalkdust set the tone in there. High energy. Most people prob didn't pick up on them playing Horn in the set. Right down the street from there off Hillsborough St. on the edge of campus phish played Horn for the first time back in May 90'. they have since 99' played Horn a few more times in Raleigh. I believe during Camel Walk they lost power for a few seconds and Mike had a doll or something on his speaker stacks during the show. I don't really need to dive into anything about the second set. I think it speaks for itself however you view it. Great set and overall fantastic show. To talk about shows before or after this one, even though it was a special show for me, remember that we all should live in the present and not stay in the past or look into the future so for me whatever show I'm listening to at this time is my favorite one. I will always love this show. I am very grateful that Phish happen to choose a show that is very dear to me to release so Thanks to the Phish team for doing so. PS-I'm Done"
