"Not to hijack the reviews here and leave multiple while listening to the show(skunk 6 I'm referring to you u old bugger...jk Man U cool but you so get excited in a good way!) anyway this limb by limb is straight modal jazz at it's best. Just ridiculous playing from trey and the band maintaining a melodic and groove based foundation under which trey is just tearing the fabric of the tonic apart as if it were the universe being rended by galactus and the power cosmic...lol. And then we have bathtub gin with full on Manteca jam! One of many highlights. I could go on but the show speaks for itself. "

"I love these three shows. Unfortunately they aren't the crispest recordings but the playing was incredible. I attended in case you want to know what my connection to the show is. However I actually didn't relisten to these shows until just recently so I have listened with almost no preconceived ideas or very much memory of the setlists etc. Virgin ears so to speak! And I am blown away by the Coltrane-esque chord stacking and modal playing by Trey. I believe eventually the latter half of 2010 and most of 2011 will be viewed in a diff light than it is now . I remember attending many shows during the period and coming away from each show being blown away by the band and trey and the textures and segues and whole band inclusion etc. Themes that have been continued in recent years. However they weren't doing a lot of wickid long single longform jams. And I remember even being guilty myself of checking out the times on the tracks and being disappointed with no long jams cuz I cut my teeth on the latter part of 90's and then 2003-4 and let's face it those are the years with the most long jams. Don't get me wrong I'm quite aware of the tweezers and bowies of 94/95 but the band really let loose with long ambient jamming till later in the decade. But during these early years of 3.0 the band wasn't doing this with a few exceptions(Albany 09' is one I attended). But I knew I loved the shows when I was there and so I have been relistening and I just have to say without having a bunch of 20 minute songs they still manage to absolutely rage! Don't be a setlist watcher like I used to be! Look past the track times and give a ten minute tweezer a chance to blow your mind. A 9 minute cities can be a funk machine. Etc...Anyway so now they are back to doing long jams except they kept all the good parts of this era and added to it...which just makes me even more excited. Sorry post so long. Great shows get them. Peace "
