"You knew that being a Tuesday show it would be misunderstood. Great show. Yes if u don't like songs like The Connection, Sample or Undermind then move on. I am a sucker for great 1st sets and this is right up there with Berkley's 1st set. Nice pithy Disease and after going thru a kill Ocelot phase...what a tornado. I think this is great new Phish with old jamming style. And the Reba with the amazing central NY weather, wonderful use of the WHALE call. Funky Bitch rips the roof off. Trey and Cactus are true white bluesmen. And only the 3rd Curtis since '93...welcome back to the rotation Mr. Lowe and is it me or has Page vocally gone thru the fountain of youth. He sounds great. I love Undermind. It is Fishnan's sing to shine. A smoking Bowie to send us to break. Bowie has been a great 3.0 song. I will not talk about the 2nd set other than Possum and Hood...Trey-man-ifigue! And don't listen to Mr Miner the Weekapaug-Limb segue is not that bad. Peace. "

"what an awesome night, especially for fans of the long orchestrated masterpieces, to have reba, harry hood and and golgi all in the same show was amazing, beautiful weather, relatively tame police in the lots (especially when compared to the gestapo at SPAC) - brought my stepfather with me for his first show, having first timers with you at a show really helps bring back that innocence toward the music and the way the band commands the stage opening 'warm up' with a plain jane connection, DWD was awesome and felt like the real start of the show for me, i was grooving from then right on through the night, then right into sample in a jar, a nice album-link followed by some strange banter between trey and the crowd since there was still so much sunshine out, a hidden little mango tease before stepping into ocelot, which now feels nice and funky and like a good old phish song, not like the brand-new oddity it was last year, reba was tight and accurate and settled nicely into it's trademark slinky jam, horn was a nice personal treat, that breakdown guitar melody is the first phish music i downloaded tabs for (remember when that was a new thing, guitar tabs online?) and is still the lick i use when i'm feeling out a new guitar to see if i like it, just plain beautiful, then a great ripping funky bitch, then awkwardly into my 2nd undermind in two shows (ouch) which ended badly, then into my 2nd awful cover in two shows (extra ouch), i can't decide which i like less, curtis loew or drowned, but then that high hat started to dance indicating the upcoming david bowie which made me totally forget about undermind and loew, fish was all over this one as always and his arms must have been burning afterward, an absolute first rate lounge jam ramping up into the racing closing guitar work by trey, a perfect way to close the set 2nd set opens with a rocking possum, warming us up nicely for some more grooving, right into a booming mikes song that really put me in a good mood, right into the usual suspect simple which trails off very nicely and then where 'i am hydrogen' should be we get the debut of 'i am the walrus' - excellent play on words but not just a gimmick, i think they really rocked it and i think the crowd, myself included, loved it - it didn't result in quite the same tension and release that mikes>hydrogen naturally does, but still awesome, right into weekapaug with an excellent bass popping mike intro, then the tempo change really made it feel like the band was trying to push the song into free but trey revolted and killed the flow and put it into limb by limb, free there would have bonkers, just give it a listen from around 8:00-8:15 and tell me they weren't trying to go into free there, but whatever, limb by limb felt off kilter and a little sour, but then nicely into an uplifting joy, and then to top it all off fish drops us into an awesome harry hood, mike unleashes a crazy fuzzy octave effect right before the lyrics start, i somehow haven't seen this bad boy since the encore of the 2nd night at camp oswego in 1999 so i was absolutely thrilled to be witness to it again, beautiful piano work by page, some more bass thumping during the mr. miner section and then into the lightest, most intricate 'release jam' that i can recall seeing, only ramping up at the last minute to close the song, and i thought it would also close the set, but they rip right into golgi with yet another beautiful and slinky orchestreated release, leaving me feeling very satisfied first tube encore wasn't that spectacular but you can't go wrong with that great driving rhythm, and after getting three of the epic orchestrated pieces in one night i could not be happier "

"This show was a monster. A great night in beautiful Canandaigua in beautiful New York. Here's how it went, or as the host of Gone Phishin' says EVERY TIME he recounts a setlist...what went down... Got in. Me and Chaz waiting for friends. The music starts. A nice easy opener and it was fine as we were still waiting to scope our friends near the entrance to the lawn...When Mike started DWD my full attention was to the band. During the tune a really happy guy bounced over into our space and packed a few pipes. thanks happy bouncing guy! A good old classic and Ocelot to follow, by the end of which our crew was once again together and up on the middle of the hill. Reba. This song was my personal request for the show and it was well played, the jam ebbed and flowed and it was a great one. More great dancing until Undermine which can slow the set down, but i knew that only meant they were going to keep doing great things in this show...later. David Bowie halftime is always cool. Second set. Started out fun with Possum (again, just have to state that even though this was a big show with lots of big numbers performed, the band and the great crowd kept the show just down right fun!) into a killer set of songs. I must say that I love Phish playing The Beatles (a hell of a lot more than the Stones...) because it gives Page a chance to play some beautiful piano parts and really shine. He did. Weekapaug was funky as all get up and of course just a great get down song. We did. Now, Limb by limb was Timmy's personal request for the show and he was very pleased. Joy was another one to slow the train down a little, a fine song, no harm done. Harry Hood. Wow. At this point we all started the eyebrow raising and deeming this to be "a great show", but I think I started that way back with DWD! Epic second set. Now Nicki asked us all "what do you think they'll encore with?" Tim guesses a cover and I sure hoped not so I decided it would be a Phish tune and I was really sensing a big instrumental based on the energy and momentum of the show. I guessed First Tube and of course, it was First Tube. I called it and Nicki was my witness. Have fun at shows pholks, tell us some stories! I like to read em!"
