10 Years Later, Still Special. 12/29/2021 10:30:21 PM

"This show has a special place in my heart. After listening to a few phish albums at college, I decided to travel to NY and see them live. I had no idea the wild beautiful journey I was about to join in on, and it all started with this show. Thank you Phish"

20 year fan-4 night review 1/4/2012 7:09:41 AM

"I bought the 4 night webcast and for $55 I can honestly say I got my money's worth. No, I did not attend any of the shows but I watched every minute of the webcast live and have re-watched the entire run via the archive stream. Been seeing Phish since 1992 and feel I can be fairly objective. With that said, here's my take: 12/28/11: Show started off lame with the Free thru Possum section. Cities and it's ensuing jam was very welcomed. Other 1st set highlights were Stash, Kill Devil Falls and Gin. VERY AVERAGE 1st Set. Birds thru NICU was probably the most sustained jamming of the entire run and compared to other tours (pre-2009). This is as good as it's gonna get folks. From Bouncin' on this show went downhill fast. Hood....avg at best; Tube...3min? WTF??? I will say the Carini jam and the segue from Tweezer into My Friend were awesome. Rock and Roll was also worthy of note. DECENT 2nd set & Encore overall. My show rating =7.5/10. 12/29/11: Overall a really good show except the boys didn't jam. If you saw this setlist in 1998 you'd shit your pants........YEM, Moma, Maze, Roses, Haley's and Antelope all in the 1st set. C'MON! 2nd set was kind of a letdown although I did enjoy the Mikes>Chalkdust>Groove and Crosseyed is always welcome in my book. You couldn't end a show any worse however.....Show of Life>Zero and a Loving Cup encore? PALEASE! My show rating = 8/10 12/30/11: Very much a roller coaster type show with plenty of mood swings. 1st set highlights: PYITE, and the Div Sky thru Rift section especially Sand and Rift. Unfortunately we had to endure the torture of Caspian and Quinn (and Joy). Liked it more the second time I watched it. The 2nd set was more of the same: Good jamming in Piper>Twist, 2001 and Bowie but we again were forced to listen to piss-poor renditions of Wilson, Julius and Trey just butchered Horse>SitM. The encores saved this show however......Boogie On and GTBT really left a good taste in my mouth. My show rating = 8.5/10. 12/31/11; Easily the best of the 4 nights and also contained 2 of the best 3 sets of the weekend (I & II). GREAT opener with AC/DC>Wolfman's and I felt there was a lot of flow to the set in general. Other than an oddly placed Farmhouse, I enjoyed every song......especially the Jiboo, the rarely played Pebbles and Fluffhead. All well played. Set II picked right up where set I left off. EVERY song was spot on and the boys were definitely having fun. Could do with out Heavy Things as others have mentioned but Light, Golden Age, Ghost and Sally more than made up for it. Also, special mention goes out to the opener and closer Party Time and Suzy respectively. Set started III off gangbusters with Steam>Jam>Disease but then quickly disintegrated into complacency.......Wedge, Alaska and Velvet Sea TOTALLY ruined the rest of the show so much so even a Slave encore couldn't save it. My show rating=9/10. All in all a great run being I never waited for the bathroom, didn't have some 7ft tall dude in front of me and the beer was free (almost). Of course this is just my opinion and curious to what other thought. Thanks Phish. "
